Our new home is a wonderful place to shop for goods on clearance.

I think that, in other places I’ve lived, when goods stop selling (especially seasonal goods), they’re shipped back to some warehouse and held until they can sell again. Here, such goods are simply put on discount.

The other day we bought some pumpkin spice flavored pudding and some stars-and-stripes cake mix and frosting. The expiration dates on the food are far enough away that they could be sold next Thanksgiving and Independence Day seasons with no problems. But they’re available now for half price.

Things that you could normally find only during a particular season or through mail order or online can be found here all year long at your local brick-and-mortar retailer.
